Psychologists tell us that approximately 85% of all the thoughts you had today are the same exact thoughts you had yesterday. At a bare minimum, they were the exact same thoughts you had a few days ago.

Isn't that sad? doesn't that sound somewhat limiting?

This means that a whopping 85% of your thoughts are just repeated, recycled thoughts. Totally unoriginal. Completely without newness. The status quo.

If you really love your life, and everything is going great, and most of your life areas are at least an 8 on the 1 to 10 scale, then I suppose that having 85% of your thoughts being recycled ones from yesterday is probably okay. I’m sure one could still make an argument that you’re in stagnation if you maintain that condition, but if you’re truly happy it’s probably still okay.

However, if your life is problematic, or if you life isn't the way you want, and if you want to improve it. Guess what you’re going to probably have to do?

You’re going to have to go to work to change that 85%. You must get your recycled thoughts (that aren't helping you change) from 85% down to 60%, 50%, or perhaps even lower.

The only way to do this is to either

A) Do new things or

B) Be aware of your thoughts and “practice” thinking new ones. Goal setting, Meditation, Visualization, Reading new material, Journaling, Self-reflection, Research, Travel, etc.

All of these things can help you think new thoughts and keep your status-quo-enforcing recycled thoughts to a minimum.
