If you’re planning on moving out of your collapsing Western country, you should probably move to a country where you won’t get murdered, raped, robbed, mugged, or any of that. One of the factors you need to pay attention to is how safe the country is to which you’re moving. Many people are under the mistaken impression that their current Western country is safer than other countries; this isn’t true.

In this article, I’m going to show you the numbers—not my opinions—on the top 10 safest countries you can move to. At the end, I’ll also give you the real numbers on how unsafe your collapsing Western country really is in terms of crime rates. Westerners are always surprised when they find out how unsafe their own countries really are.

We’ll also discuss some of the other factors that make a country a good place to live (or not)—outside of crime stats. A country can be relatively safe without being a good place to live.

Safety and Crime Rates

The problem with most crime indices on the internet is that the countries often use factors other than crime rates to figure their statistics. They include things like welfare spending and military spending, neither of which has anything to do with crime rates or your odds of being mugged in the street. So here, we’re only going to use per-capita crime rates when discussing these countries.

Be very careful when doing your own research online regarding crime rates in other countries; some countries use something they call a “peace index” or “safety index.” Look and see how they figure up their numbers and don’t be fooled.

The data I’m using here is from World Population Review. This is based purely on per-capita crime rates for each country—nothing else. You’ll also see that in the top 10 safest countries in the world, only one is a Western country. I’ve been saying for a long time that the Western world is collapsing, and when that happens, crime rates only go up.

We’ll go over each country’s crime index, which is a number from 1 to 100, and lower is better. Crime rates get worse as you approach 100.

Now, the top 10 safest countries in the world, starting with number 10:

10. Rwanda

Yes! Rwanda has a crime index of 22.4, which is good.

Now, what the hell? Didn’t they just have a giant genocide back in the ‘90s? Yes, they did, but that was a long time ago. A lot of countries can turn around; you can’t hold that against them.

But the reason Rwanda has been able to pull off this turnaround is twofold. First, I don’t think I believe the data. I don’t know how it was verified, and Africa is really iffy when it comes to stats like this. And second, Rwanda is a tiny country, so in a country that size, it’s easy to finagle the numbers because you’re talking about per-capita rates.

So would you move to Rwanda? It’s actually one of the better countries in Africa, and my opinion on moving to Africa is the same as it’s always been: If you’re a really young, super-ambitious guy who isn’t afraid of working hard and roughing it for a few years, Africa is a fantastic place to move. I have said that if I was in my twenties, single, and had no kids, I’d be in Africa doing cell phone work, water reclamation, and all kinds of things.

If you’re in a category other than this kind of super-aggressive young man, don’t move to Africa. Life is too hard there. There are too many variables and unknowns.

9. Japan

Japan’s crime index is 21.67. It’s obviously one of the safest countries in the world. It’s deeply ingrained in their culture there. It’s one of those wonderful places like Dubai, where you can leave your wallet in a busy place and come back hours later and it’s still there.

They don’t have a lot of guns there; if you live there, you probably don’t even need to own a gun because they have very little gun violence. So it’s a very safe place—the ninth safest country in the world.

But is Japan a good country to live in? Well, that’s more complex. Japan, unfortunately, is the only country in Asia that is collapsing. Just about every country in Asia is going to do very well over the next 25 years to varying degrees, but Japan is collapsing, just like the West. In 75 years, Japan won’t exist anymore.

If you really like Japanese culture, it might be a fine place to live, especially if you’re an Alpha Male 2.0 with a location-independent income that comes 100% from outside of Japan. I wouldn’t move there and start a business based there. But if you have a strong income coming from the outside, you might be fine.

If you’re a young guy, you might have to leave Japan several decades down the road once the country’s on its way out, but you know that because you’re moving to a collapsing country.

As for me, I wouldn’t move there. It doesn’t make sense for me to move from one collapsing country to another. That’s just not how I think. For my money, there are better places to live with fewer negatives, but there’s no question that it’s a very safe country to live in.

8. Switzerland

Switzerland is the only Western country on this list, and its crime index is 21.58—very safe.

This is a very interesting country. Europe isn’t just collapsing; it’s collapsing faster than the United States, and that’s saying something. So if you live in Europe, you need to get the fuck out right now. It’s on its way out in a big way.

That said, of all the European Western nations, Switzerland is the least insane. They’re not part of the EU or the eurozone, and they do a lot of things right over there. The culture is pretty good, too. There are a number of things I like about the place. But would I move there if I had 197 other options to choose from just because it’s a safe country? No, I wouldn’t. So I can’t recommend Switzerland, even though there are many positives to it.

Go visit Europe. Go enjoy it, and then get the fuck out. It’s a great place to visit.

7. Slovenia

Slovenia has a crime index of 20.95, so it’s safe. Unlike Switzerland, Slovenia is part of the EU; therefore, I do not recommend you live or move there, even though it is very safe. I don’t know too much about Slovenia; I know it’s a tiny country in the middle of a forest with about two million people. I just can’t recommend countries to move to that are part of the EU. Would I live in the EU just because it’s safe? Hell no. If I’m not moving to Switzerland, I’m sure as hell not moving to Slovenia.

But again, do whatever you like. I’m just telling you it’s a safe country to live in.

6. Hong Kong

This is one of my favorite countries in the world, with a safety index of 20.91. Hong Kong is amazing; it is not perfect. You can find negatives attached to every country in the world. But Hong Kong is fucking awesome. It’s a very safe country, and it also happens to be the second or third freest country in the world, according to most freedom indices.

Has Hong Kong had some problems? Of course. Will it have more? Yes. Hong Kong has peaked. It’s going to stagnate at a very high level, which is good, and then it will slowly decline as China continues to put its foot on the neck of the people of Hong Kong. It’ll be a very gradual decline that takes many decades. Moving to Hong Kong is great in particular if your focus is business and making money.

There are some negatives, of course, but those are mostly cultural negatives. If you don’t like a big, bustling city or don’t want to live in an Asian country, then OK. But Hong Kong is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. It’s the sixth safest country in the world.

5. Oman

Oman has a safety index of 20.62. It’s one of the safest countries in the world. It’s about four hours’ driving distance from my home in the UAE.

Oman is one of the calmest, most liberal, westernized countries in the Middle East, although I don’t know much about their residency or citizenship policies. I imagine it would be a difficult country to fully move to, so I’m not really sure I can recommend that. Plus, there are two other countries in the Middle East that are much better to move to, and I happen to live in one of them.

4. Georgia

Georgia has a safety index of 20.5. However, I always have to say this to my fellow Americans: I’m talking about the country of Georgia in central Asia, not the state of Georgia.

Georgia is also one of my favorite countries in the world. I strongly considered moving there because it’s a fantastic place to live. It’s cheap, safe, and one of the emerging markets of the world. I have very little negative to say about Georgia except for the fact that it borders Russia—and I don’t want to live in a country that shares a border with a country that is hostile or otherwise not an ally. Russia is run by a tyrant who likes to invade other countries whenever he wants. But other than that, Georgia is as close to perfect as you can get.

One of my flags is in Georgia. I do various things in my financial life over there, and I strongly recommend it.

3. United Arab Emirates

The safety index here is 15.45, a full five-point drop from #4 on this list. Dubai is often regarded as one of the safest cities in the world. There is virtually no crime here as compared to other places in the world. I once did an entire video about why I moved to Dubai. I’ve lived here for several months now. The people are fantastic here, there are no taxes, and it’s a great travel hub.

It’s also one of the easiest countries in the world to move to in terms of visas and residencies. I am a full-time resident of the UAE. It was much easier to become a resident here than many of the countries in South America.

The UAE is a little expensive in some aspects, but I completely recommend it unless you want to live somewhere on the cheap.

2. Taiwan

Not bad, Taiwan, with a safety index of 15.28. Pretty damn good. I didn’t know Taiwan was actually safer than Japan. It’s a terrific country to visit and live in. The main reason I didn’t choose to live in Taiwan, again, has to do with not living in a country adjacent to a hostile nation. There are a lot of Chinese missiles pointed at Taiwan, and I’m not a fan of that.

Other than that, Taiwan is a vibrant country with a strong economy; it’s one of the four Asian Tigers, in economic terms. It’s essentially equivalent to places like South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore. I can’t recommend Taiwan enough.

Just about anywhere in Asia is pretty damn good in terms of economic growth outside of Japan. But you can’t go wrong with Taiwan.

1. Qatar

Yet another Middle Eastern country, Qatar’s safety index is 11.9. That’s another four points below #2 in this list.

Qatar is right across the bay from me; I’ll probably be spending a lot of time there. It’s very similar to Dubai in that it’s a very ritzy, fancy place, and it’s one of the most economically sound countries in the Middle East. I don’t know a lot about it, but I’ll know more once I’ve visited a few times.

It’s essentially another wealthy, smaller country that I keep talking about. These smaller countries tend to do better than larger countries (which tend to be cluster-fucks), their systems work better, and they tend to be safer. That’s why I wanted to move to a small country myself in terms of population.

~

Again, let me reiterate that three of the top 10 safest countries in the world are in the fucking Middle East. Think about that. I talk a lot about societal programming, how you’re wired (by a lot of different things) to believe things that aren’t true. The Middle East isn’t a land of death. Some of it is, but a lot of it isn’t, including where I live.

Now, I’m going to give you some numbers on some Western countries. How do they rank in terms of crime rates compared to the countries we’ve discussed above?

Let’s start with the United States. As you know, the top 10 safest countries have crime indices between 22 and 11. Remember, a lower number is better. What would you guess the United States’ number is?

It’s 47. It’s many times more dangerous than any country on the list above.

Some of you are thinking: Well I don’t live in the United States, I live in the UK.

You know what the UK’s number is? It’s 44. Good fuckin’ luck with that.

New Zealand: 42. Again, more than double most of the countries on this list.

Australia: 41

The least bad Western country I researched is Germany at 35. Thirty-five is still way above #10 on this list.

Today’s Western countries are not safe places to live. If you compare them to horrible countries, like many countries in Central America, Afghanistan, or many African countries, then yes—they’re much less bad than that.

But when you compare them to the cool countries that we’ve covered today, they’re not just worse. They’re many times worse. Your collapsing Western country is not a paradise. In fact, if you live in the United States, you’re not free, either.
