Tomorrow, at 8pm PST Thursday Dec 10th, we are migrating this blog over to the new version of calebjones.com. All comments and articles will be moved there but the blog will look very different. Also, per the warning I gave you several months ago, all new commenting at the new blog will be permanently turned off (you can still comment at the sites/services listed below instead). When the new site is up there will be a video over there discussing specifics. I will continue to post new articles at the new blog every Monday morning and if you are email-subscribed to this blog your subscription will continue. I’m sure there will be some problems during the transition. If you see any, don’t freak out, we’ll get around to fixing them.

If you want to continue to comment on my content after the transition tomorrow night (including these videos and articles), follow/subscribe to the following platforms, where I provide new content regularly:

  1. Will any of these platforms be “the” place for collective discussion of blog posts, with occasional replies by yourself? I’m confused by the prospect of having the discussion of each post being in ten different places.

  2. My guess is that it’s a time management thing. With the current platform he more or less has to respond to comments. With the new blog he can pick and choose which threads in which to participate if at all.

  3. I doubt I’ll follow the new blog. I’m not fond of the video format. At the same time, I can completely understand why Caleb is doing it. It makes sense from his perspective.

So, Caleb, I’d just like to say thanks for all the interesting ideas and good advice you’ve provided over the couple of years I’ve followed you. I’ve actually used a lot of that advice to good effect. And your ideas and opinions have made me reflect on my own. So, best wishes to you with your ventures and good luck!

The Alpha Male 2.0 Forums, within each article posted thread.

I’m confused by the prospect of having the discussion of each post being in ten different places.

Two different places, not ten. The video can be discussed at YouTube, the video and/or the article can be discussed at the forums. The other places are for the rest of my (related) content.

My guess is that it’s a time management thing.

Everything I do is a time management thing.

The time spent to income ratio for responding to my blog comments has become extremely low over the last 24 months. Five years ago it was extremely important to the revenue of this business that I responded to blog comments, but the nature of the internet has changed so that just isn’t true anymore. Today I get much more bang for my buck (especially in terms of future prospects) by responding to social media comments and DMs, particularly at places like YouTube, Instagram, and the Facebook group.

I’m glad I could help and you’re very welcome.

Would you say it still is important to have a blog / website or is it better to just fully focus on these and similar platforms? (for someone starting out)

Depends on the niche. Speaking in general, today, video is far better than articles in terms of getting traffic and income faster. But that’s just in general; some niches really prefer written articles, so it depends on who you’re selling to.

Something thats been holding me back from starting all my ideas is that i dont knkw what it is or why but i seem to have some mental block regarding setting up actual websites. I am very familiar and comfortable with social media (other than video, though I would love to start making the kind of smug info videos like Andrew Handerson does, have wanted to do that for a while) so that could be an easier start for me. I had the idea I need to do blogging. I guess once I want to sell stuff I need website though.

Do you plan to share what kind of video equipment you use? Hardware and software and what you recommend?

Then figure it out. Or find a different niche.

i seem to have some mental block regarding setting up actual websites

    Pussy excuse.

Do you plan to share what kind of video equipment you use?

Yeah eventually I’ll get around to that.

Hardware and software and what you recommend?

No because I don’t use software. My staff does all that. I have no idea what they use nor care.
