Ricky Gervais Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais

This is what outcome independence looks like.
I talk a lot about outcome independence (OI) as one of the key qualities men need to attract women and to maintain happy relationships.  OI also has applications in other areas of life, especially in business and family matters.

-By Caleb Jones

Sometimes its hard to find overt examples of OI to point to.  I’ve talked before about men like James Woods, Steven Colbert and Kevin O’Leary, men who flat out just Don’t Give A Shit.  That’s what OI is, and it’s wonderful.
How happy I am to have a new example to add to the OI shortlist!  That’s Ricky Gervais.  His OI is so pure, so wonderful, I just can’t keep a smile off my face when I see him do his thing.

Just in case you didn’t know, Ricky Gervais (a British comedian who created the concept of The Office) hosted last year’s Golden Globes Awards.  To the horror of everyone involved, he spent the entire time lampooning everyone in the meanest, cruelest, funniest, most creative ways possible.  It was beautiful to watch.  Ricky was pissing everyone off and he just Didn’t Give A Shit.

Of course, all the pampered prema donnas in Hollywood were appalled.  Complaints were rampant.  The Golden Globes stated that Ricky was essentially fired and would never be asked back.

Ricky’s response?  “Okay.”  Unlike most celebrities who would have been angry, hurt and instantly transformed into defense-mode, Ricky just casually stated that it wasn’t any big deal and that he Didn’t Give A Shit.  Which he didn’t.  I was so impressed.

Then a funny thing happened.  The ratings came in.  They were through the roof.  Hollywood hated Ricky, but the audience loved him.
So the Golden Globes nicely apologized to Ricky and asked him back for the 2012 awards show.
Ricky’s response?  A shrug and a “Go fuck yourself.”  Or something to that effect.

So the Hollywood Foreign Press (the organization that puts on the Golden Globes) pursued him (which is always what happens when you demonstrate OI; you become the desired and pursued), and apparently pursued him hard. After much negotiation likely involving a lot of ass-kissing a check to Ricky with a number followed by many zeros, Ricky finally agreed to come back.  One of his many stipulations was that he would be allowed to say literally whatever he wanted.

Oh, this was going to be good.
The 2012 Golden Globes was held a few days ago.  Guess what Ricky did?  Not only did he bash everyone in Hollywood, this time he also made a special point to bash his employers, including the Hollywood Foreign Press and even NBC.

If you watch the clips (available all over the place including YouTube) you’ll see that half the audience laughed, half were hushed, nervous, or seething.  At one point, hearing some gasps from auditorium at some of his insults, Ricky shrugged and said “I don’t care,” and just continued being an asshole.  To everyone.
God this man is beautiful.  Because he honestly Doesn’t Give A Shit whether or not people hate him, or even if he gets fired.  It’s one of the best displays of OI in recent history.

OI has worked magic in my life and it will work for you too.  When you get to the point where you’re on a first date with a super-hottie and you literally Don’t Give A Shit if you ever see her again, when you get to the point where you can be in a relationship with a woman you loooooooovvvvve and you Don’t Give A Shit if she breaks up with you, a godlike power will emanate from you.  You’ll get laid like you won’t believe.  Women will be  eating out of your hands. Drama, bitching, and arguments will virtually vanish from your life.  Believe me, it’s a good place to be.

Outcome independence:  the most attractive quality a man can have.

This guy is a gem. Nobody in media says it straight. We need more personalities like Ricky Gervais to break us out of our shells

I have a question, while this is indeed outcome-independent, why does he have to bash everyone? Does he have a reason to do it? Being an asshole with a purpose is wonderful, but what if his attitude is particularly harmful to people?

He doesn’t have to bash anyone…there are many other ways to demonstrate OI. That’s just the way he decided to do it. Would I have done it differently? Probably. You’ll notice I tend to bash ideas, methods, and philosophies far more than I bash individuals, and even then those individuals tend to be politicians who are asking for it. Regardless, his OI is still inspiring.

He wasn’t bashing for the sake of bashing – he’s a comedian making jokes. It’s like teasing a girl, you’re not actually insulting her, you’re just making a joke. If people are so far up their own asses that they can’t take it, then that’s their problem. As BD pointed out within the post – the audience loved it because it was funny.

If he’d got on stage and just ranted about how everyone in Hollywood was a prick then noone would’ve enjoyed it. However, he was doing comedy, and yes there’s always going to be people who get offended, but the reason he was so successful wasn’t the bashing, it was because he STUCK TO HIS GUNS when some people took offense to his jokes.

Speaking of OI …. what do you do when you get a woman to your house on a 2nd date (first date being initial meet from online) but she won’t let you get anywhere …. like flat out refuses the kiss after multiple (spaced out over time) attempts. Last time this happened to me was last week …. said I was moving “too fast”. Invite her one more time or just move on?

Funny that every time this has happened to me (three times) it has been an Asian chick. Maybe just coincidence …. IDK.

Moving on would be fine. If she didn’t even let you KISS her the odds are low anything’s going to happen on a 3rd meet. But meeting up with her ONE more time at your place would be acceptable. As long as it was at your place, no money was spent, and you never see her again if she resists again.
