Location independence, the ability to consistently live your life financially and sexually with zero problems regardless of where in the world you go, live, travel, vacation, or visit, is one of the foundations of Alpha Male 2.0. The problem is that there seems to be a lot of confusion about what location independence is or why one would want it. I’ve seen several comments on my blogs lately asking more or less the same question. This is epitomized by a recent comment by Bluejay:

What if I have an extremely well remunerated career that allows me to live where I love, and work with some of the brightest minds in the world? It doesn’t make sense to leave my career just to become location independent. I have a hard time imagining someone being completely location independent. People have ties to a specific location. They’d like to live in a certain place to be close to friends and family. They have a certain preference for the type of weather, politics etc. For example, I know I’d never want to live in Thailand and work from a beach on my laptop. I love working with smart people in an office that overlooks skyscrapers! Anyways, I understand for some people location independence is paramount.

This demonstrates a lot of misunderstanding about what location independence is and why it’s desirable, and Bluejay is not alone. However, as always, I assume that if many in my audience misunderstand one of my core concepts it’s because I have been negligent in properly explaining it. Today I will rectify that.

Location independence means that your income continues regardless of where you are physically located. If you are in downtown Miami, Tokyo, Moscow, or on the beach in the Bahamas, or camping in the Scottish Highlands, none of that matters because your income keeps coming in regardless. You can live in City A and spend three months on the other side of the planet in City B and your income is completely unaffected.

You can’t do this when you have a job, regardless of how much money you make at that job, nor can you do this if you have a traditional, location dependent business.  Instead it means you have an Alpha 2.0 business.

Under an Alpha Male 2.0 context, location independence also means that your woman life also continues regardless of your physical location. You can do this one of three ways:

1. You have FBs (and possibly MLTRs under certain conditions) in place in multiple cities around the world where you regularly visit.

Or

2. You have strong enough dating skills where you can meet and have sex with new women wherever you go, regardless of the location.

Or

3. You have an OLTR who travels with you wherever you go.

This way your lifestyle is completely decoupled from your location.

That’s location independence. Bluejay and others who are confused about this are actually not talking about location independence. They’re talking about an international lifestyle. These are two very different things.

Location independence means you have the ability to go wherever you want, whenever you want. International lifestyle means you actually do that, and often. Just because you’re location independent doesn’t mean you have to travel all the time. You can sit exactly where you are in your favorite city full-time if you wish. It simply means you can leave whenever you want and can take huge, long vacations to other locations whenever you want.

I have a friend who is a location independent Alpha Male 2.0 just like me. He’s 100% location independent both financially and sexually. However, he lives in Panama City full time and pretty much never leaves. He likes it there, so he just stays there.

I, on the other hand, spend several months of the year outside of the USA on various adventures and I fucking love it. This year, 2020, is my last year living full-time in the USA (thank god). Starting next year after I move, I’ll only spend about 3-4 months in the USA at the very most; I can’t fucking wait.

My friend is location independent. I am both location independent and live an international lifestyle. Two different things. You may hate living an international lifestyle and that’s fine. But you still need to be location independent if you want long-term happiness. I’ll explain below as I go through Bluejay’s comment.

What if I have an extremely well remunerated career that allows me to live where I love, and work with some of the brightest minds in the world?

You can live and work where you love without that job. If you had your own Alpha 2.0 business, you could work literally wherever you wanted. Obviously, that would be where you love.

You can also work with the “brightest minds in the world” in your own business. In my own businesses, I have worked with men with off-the-chart IQs, world-class scientists, and self-made men worth hundreds of millions of dollars. When you have your own business, you can work with whomever you want (once the business is up and running). When you have a job, you work with the people your boss forces you to work with. Some of these people you may love, but some you may find annoying or even maddening.

Do you think I work with anyone I find annoying or maddening? Ever?

Nope.

It doesn’t make sense to leave my career just to become location independent

Correct and that’s not why you would leave your job. You would leave your job to be free. To set your own schedule, live and travel wherever you want, work with whomever you choose, and work on projects you enjoy. I would never recommend to anyone that they quit their job just to be location independent. I’m telling you to (eventually, when it makes sense) quit your job to be FREE.

I have a hard time imagining someone being completely location independent. People have ties to a specific location. They’d like to live in a certain place to be close to friends and family. They have a certain preference for the type of weather, politics etc.

This is a mix up of location independence and an international lifestyle. If you don’t want an international lifestyle, then don’t do that! I know many men would be very irritated with the international lifestyle that I lead. And some would love it. Both good!

Instead, get location independent and then stay in the city that you love. Once you’re location independent, that’s perfectly fine. Many Alpha Male 2.0s do this.

Now you’re probably asking, “What good is location independence if I’m going to just stay where I am?” The answer is: Just because you like where you are doesn’t mean you should be FORCED to stay there at all times for the rest of your life. Here’s why:

1. You love your city now, but you’re convinced you’re never going to change your mind? Ever? You’re going to live many more decades. You’re telling me you’re 100% sure you’ll never want to leave your city (or region, or country) at any time in the next 57 years? Really?

Wouldn’t you like the freedom to change your mind whenever you want?

I have that freedom. You don’t.

2. What if something happens to your city or your country down the road which would make a it bad place to live? Or a place you weren’t excited about anymore?

Millions of people in the UK thought the UK was great… but then Brexit happened, and now many of these people are angry and terrified (especially after the recent election there). They’re stuck because they’re not location independent.

Germany used to be a great place, but now it’s collapsing before our very eyes, and many Germans admit this but complain they’re stuck there because they’re location dependent.

I’ve talked in great detail at my other blog about how the USA, Europe, and many other regions of the world are going to collapse in our lifetime. This is to say nothing about natural disasters, hurricanes, and so on. Wouldn’t you like the mental peace of mind and security knowing that if anything bad happened to your region you could just fly somewhere else with your family literally whenever you wanted and have no disruption in your income or sex life?

I have that security. You don’t.

3. You want to be close to your family, and I think that’s great. But again, you’re not thinking long term. I’ve got news for you. Your parents are going to eventually die. Your kids are eventually going to grow up and move away. Then what?

Wouldn’t you like the flexibility to just go somewhere else (or spend lots of time away) when these changes in your life, which will happen, occur?

I have that flexibility. You don’t.

For example, I know I’d never want to live in Thailand and work from a beach on my laptop. I love working with smart people in an office that overlooks skyscrapers!

Guess what? Me too! I would never live in fucking Thailand! I have nothing against Thailand (it’s one of the best growth economies in the world) but I would fucking hate it if I had to live there. I like high-tech offices that overlook world-record high skyscrapers just like you, so I spend time in fancy offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, and kickass places like that.

If you wouldn’t like to live in Thailand with your laptop, then don’t fucking do that. I sure as hell don’t. Go to the best place (or places) in the world where you want to go. Right now, you can’t do that! You’ve got a gun to your head (not literally, but you know what I mean) that is forcing you to stay in the skyscraper city you’re in right now and you can’t go spend any significant time in any other skyscraper cities which are probably superior. As I’ve demonstrated many times, the skyscrapers in places like Asia are far superior than the old, ugly, worn-out skyscrapers of the Collapsing USA or Suicidal Europe. It’s not even close.

And of course, for those of you who would love to live in Thailand and work on the beach with your laptop, do that!

Do what you want! Don’t do what you would not want. That’s Alpha Male 2.0 at its core. The problem is if you’re not location independent, you can’t do whatever you want, and you lack all kinds of security and flexibility in your life.

Location independence doesn’t mean you have to travel all over the world all the time. It means you can.

  1. Real location independence is rare https://theredquest.wordpress.com/2019/07/16/location-independent-businesses-are-rarer-than-online-seminar-hucksters-would-have-you-believe/

Germany has one of the strongest and most innovative economies in the world https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/angela-merkel-germany-german-economy-euro-eu-deutschemark-a7945406.html. It’s true that its tight fiscal policy is awful for Europe’s periphery and that a single currency has been a disaster, but its overall performance in economics and innovation is unparalleled outside the US and Japan.

  2. Real location independence is rare

Correct. Very rare. People don’t know how to do it, or are too lazy to do it, or aren’t motivated enough to do it. Absolutely.

Germany has one of the strongest and most innovative economies in the world

So is the USA, and it’s collapsing too.

The German economy is strong and innovative today, but that doesn’t change the fact that the single currency system and all of the other big government nonsense in Germany and other EU countries will eventually spell disaster for the economies of those countries (Germany included). By 2030, the EU will be a pile of bricks and rubble.

IMO the easiest way to do quit your job and gain a good amount of freedom, if you’re currently an employee, is to try to turn your current job into a corp-to-corp relationship where you work on a 1099 (assuming you’re in the US) and can pick and choose which hours you want to work as well as work with multiple clients. If you’re in the IT sector like I am, this should be relatively easy to do. My biggest hurdle with trying to do this is that companies want to still try and treat me as an employee. They want me to come into their office, work with a team of others, and work 40 hours a week.

For younger guys in the Western World who want to continue working a regular job for whatever odd reason, the least I would suggest is to have some solid savings (at least 10-20k) in gold, silver, and cryptocurrencies. This way, if shit hits the fan in your region and you lose your job and are unable to find another one in your area because things are so bad, you can at least buy a plane ticket out.

    Correct on both counts!

  5. There’s one thing that no one is asking. If this is legit why’s there not single one former member to provide positive feedback and comment? How is it possible that if “thousands people have already done it” that none of those people haven’t got the time to come to this site and confirm it.

If I was A2.0 former Beta/A1.0 and have bought business course and joined SMIC and after working 1-3-5 years and did it! I would be the first to come back here and there to see your articles and blogs and would definitely post a positive comment.

Something like: ” Guys this is legit. It works, trust me. I was beta before this (gosh!) but after 1-3-5 years of hard work and Caleb’s help I managed! Now I earn 50.000$ and work 30h per week and have 2 cute babes. One 7 on scale and other is 9. I’m not rich! But life is way easier and sweet holy jesus I am more happy than ever. Do this favor to yourself. Trust me when I say, Caleb wants to help you!”

I follow your blogs since 2012. Your articles are informative, interesting and sometimes fun. And we agree on many things. But how is it possible that there has been not single one positive feedback and support from your fellow Alpha 2.0’s all this years? If thousands have done it? Is it not weird that dozen or at least several people haven’t show some support. If nothing else as a gratitude? I know I would. Many people would. Yet no one did.

  6. I have a location independent business.

I actually found myself thinking many of the same thoughts and ideas about it as BD before finding him or his material and started my business before learning about him or A 2.0.

After my divorce in 2012 I found this site and saw immediately that the systems he has developed were for me.

Reading the Unchained man and listening to the SMIC podcasts (multiple times) has helped me to see more clearly what I need to do so that all of my decisions and actions take me to a place I want to be.

I have used his concepts to tweak my location independent business to better fit the A 2.0 lifestyle and am very happy with the results.

I had worked hard to build a career and a family when I was younger and it all blew up because my wife “fell out of love” or whatever…

So this time I’m building a life and lifestyle that can’t be totally destroyed in an instant due to someone elses emotions or decisions.  And I personally don’t believe there is a better system for that than what Caleb has developed.

I’m a fairly smart guy but for most my life I often had to learn important life altering lessons the hard way..  I’m happy that I eventually figure things out however doing it the hard way takes way too much time and energy.

For me, I think the biggest benefit I’ve had from finding Caleb and his material is that I don’t see myself going off in any direction that I may regret someday, or if I do, I’ll see it / recognize it as something that doesn’t comply with his written A 2.0 requirements and I’ll take corrective measures to get back on track.  So I see it as a way for me to avoid having to learn things the hard way.  I’ve had enough of that.

This is the best lifestyle for a man living this modern era.  I’m sticking with it.

  7. Thank you BD for clarification. It would be really nice if someday I could have that freedom. I’m from Iran but have a US green card. I moved here to get a PhD 11 years ago. However, I’m not all that excited about living in US anymore plus tax structure in US is killing me! 🤬 This year I paid roughly half of my income to IRS. I have many relatives in Europe but I don’t like Europe at all. Taxes are sky high and pay is much lower. So I’m thinking maybe Dubai would be good for me. I need to do some research on taxes over there. Right now I’m here in US just because I make money. That’s it!

  8. But how is it possible that there has been not single one positive feedback and support from your fellow Alpha 2.0’s all this years?

You mean positive feedback like this?: Real Life Alpha Male 2.0 Success Stories

Or all the testimonials here? Or on my other pages?

You actually saying you’ve been reading my blog since 2012 and you haven’t seen one of the hundreds of comments here since then of guys getting positive results from my advice?

I welcome criticism but it needs to be honest.

This is the best lifestyle for a man living this modern era. I’m sticking with it.

    I agree. And thank you.

I’m from Iran but have a US green card. I moved here to get a PhD 11 years ago. However, I’m not all that excited about living in US anymore plus tax structure in US is killing me!

Yup. That is reason #1 I’m leaving the USA. I don’t see the point of paying the highest tax rates in the world so guys like Obama and Trump can keep giving lazy people free money or bombing countries that have never attacked us and never will (to name just two examples of how that money is wasted).

This year I paid roughly half of my income to IRS.

Yup. So did most of the American middle class.

And that 50% rate doesn’t even cover things like health care costs.

Europeans are collapsing but Americans are getting raped.

Right now I’m here in US just because I make money. That’s it!

That’s fine for now, but you need to make a several-year battle plan to:

    1. Make your money while you’re in the USA.
    2. Get your Alpha 2.0 location independent business started on the side.
    3. Build it to a decent income ($75k per year or more).
    4. Make your exit from the Collapsing USA, Suicidal Europe, or Cuckoo Canada.
    5. Enjoy your low-taxed location-independent income for the rest of your life.

Any Westerner reading these words can get all that done in 2-4 years or less.

  9. Just to add to my points above..

After owning a business like this for years now, even thinking about what it would be like to not be able to do whatever I want, whenever I want seems like hell on earth..

Having had a business like this for years and then adopting the rest of BD’s concepts and living this lifestyle has actually spoiled me a bit I will admit.  This sounds bad but I actually feel sorry for people who are living “normal” lives.

  10. And thanks again Caleb.

You’re without a doubt a very smart guy and I’m very glad I came across your site and glad that I recognized it for what it was.

At first (back in 2012) I figured I’d just use some of your concepts, which I did.  Then through the years I noticed that the areas where I wasn’t living as you suggest (full A 2.0 guidelines) were ultimately the areas that I was still experiencing some occasional dissatisfaction with.

At that point I saw very clearly that your system in its entirety is truly the way to go.

So glad you took the time to develop it and share it with guys like myself.

You have improved my life immensely and have given me a system that should prevent me from effing up my life in the future.

I love my life.  A 2.0 for life.

  11. Right maybe I’m missing something but what about guys with Missions that requires a certain location and/or schedule? Guys who want to be the next best alpine ski champion or have a shot at the NFL? They still gotta show up at practice at 6am on the slopes in Switzerland. Not only about 2%ers, but what about military guys, charity workers, artists, chefs etc what should they do to maximize alpha 2.0 lifestyle? Because I’m sure when you put serious effort into your mission you’re not gonna give it away just to be “location independent”. They can probably start something on the side but there’s a difference between online coaching teaching circus moves and performing at Cirque du Soleil in Vegas.

  12. This sounds bad but I actually feel sorry for people who are living “normal” lives.

I felt that way for a long time, though today in the internet era, it’s hard to claim ignorance as an excuse, so I don’t feel as bad as I used to about this. 🙂

You have improved my life immensely and have given me a system that should prevent me from effing up my life in the future.

    You’re very welcome.

Right maybe I’m missing something but what about guys with Missions that requires a certain location and/or schedule? Guys who want to be the next best alpine ski champion or have a shot at the NFL?

Guys who have Missions like that aren’t Alpha 2.0 compatible. A guy who wants to make the NFL or focus on Cirque du Soleil in Vegas isn’t going to have very much freedom for many, many years of his life. He’s giving up that freedom for his goal. Which might be fine for him, but it’s not Alpha 2.0. Freedom is the backbone of the Alpha 2.0 lifestyle.

The alpine ski champion could make that work though; he could choose where and when he practices. So it really depends.

The point is that not all successful people are Alpha Male 2.0. Alpha 2.o is a very narrow sliver of those people. It’s niched for a particular type of man, not “anyone who wants to be successful.”

  13. The alpine ski champion could make that work though; he could choose where and when he practices. So it really depends.

This is why I prefer sports like alpine skiing, golf, bowling, tennis and other stuff that doesn’t require you to be on a team or play in one nation and one nation only.

Bowling is slowly transitioning from a profitable hobby to a profession and I can go to tournaments literally anywhere in the world. A lot of pro bowlers/golfers are location independent and live an international lifestyle, being able to make money from local and overseas competition.

  14. Caleb, I’m an old guy, (in my 60s), so not all your stuff applies to me, particularly the need for multiple sex partners.  But economically I think you are spot on.

One issue with international traveling that I find vexing is dealing with banks here in the USA. I just had one of my checking accounts hacked, (easy to do – all you need is bank routing number and checking account number), and I had to go IN PERSON from several states away to resolve this problem.  How would you handle this if you were on the other side of the globe?
